Mr Nice Guy Restaurant

Tucked away in an otherwise quiet pocket of the western business end of the CBD (which is mostly pretty dead after 5pm), Mr Nice Guy features colourful shabby-kitsch interiors and casual cheap eats for the lunch-goers of the area. That said, things here are definitely turned up a notch for dinner with good wines and a subtle foray into Thai-Aussie fusion.

During the day, the menu services the time-poor office lunch crowd with quick curries, wok-fried dishes and the house special tom som (green papaya) salad, which is served with a choice of protein options. By night, things get a little more complex, with dishes such as red duck curry with lychee and pineapple; and spicy sour orange curry with tiger prawns, leek and cauliflower.

The dinner pace is decidedly more leisurely too, with an emphasis on shared, family-style eating. If you have room for more, fusion desserts such as the lemongrass cheesecake with smoked pineapple are sure to leave all with a big smile by night’s end.
