Ilan El: Colours of Light at Linden New Art

Sat 12th March, 2022 – Sun 5th June, 2022
11:00am – 4:00pm
Linden New Art
26 Acland Street, St Kilda
The Melbourne artist explores how colour evokes different emotions in this solo exhibition, which displays changing illuminations.

Interdisciplinary artist and designer Ilan El’s medium of choice is experiential lighting, and his work – both commercial and artistic – has illuminated spaces around the world, including the Renaissance hotel in New York, the NGV, Craft Victoria and Prahran’s Justin Art House Museum.

Colours of Light showcases pieces by El that were originally designed for homes and public venues, as well as new artworks made specially for the exhibition. It explores the potential of light, form and colour to enhance our experience of space.

All the pieces are coloured and illuminated, with many changing appearance throughout. And while people might be looking at the same artworks and colours, El believes everyone will see and interpret them differently thanks to their personal experiences and associations with the spectrum.

Open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11am to 4pm. Entry is free.
