Remember last year’s iconic bucket hat? What about the tiny Knölig key ring? Or that time Balenciaga used the brand’s Frakta bag as inspo?
Ikea has a fascinating track record of getting us hooked on its internationally recognised branding. The Swedish flat-pack company has noticed the hype (even for items not officially endorsed by the brand), and it’s launching a limited collection of merch in Australia from mid-May.
The online and in-store collection includes white T-shirts and hoodies ($19 to $49) bearing a barcode design, plus branded water bottles, towels, a key ring and a tote bag ($4 to $22.50). Unlike the crunchy blue material used for the brand’s shopping bags and 2020’s bucket hat, this range is mostly monochrome, using the company’s blue and yellow colours sparingly.
