Cookie joint Get Chunky is opening in Fremantle this weekend and handing out free cookies to celebrate. It’s the third store for the New York-style cookie store, which has stores in Mount Lawley and East Victoria Park. Get Chunky will be handing out a free cookie of your choice and a Filament Coffee cold brew to the first 200 customers on November 28. If you’re one of the first 10, you’ll get a box of six chunky cookies and a drink of your choice. While you’re there, pick up one of their limited-edition Kitchen Sink cookies, made with, yes everything but the kitchen sink, including milk chocolate chips, mini M&M’s, potato chips, chewy Twix bars and chuncks of Rolo. The new store is part of Fremantle’s Kings Square redevelopment FOMO.
Goon and nuggs
Head to Perth Mess Hall on Saturday November 27 for a celebration of cask wine and chicken nuggets at the Goon & Nugz festival. From 6pm, you’ll get classic nuggs and nugget-adjacent dishes from vendors such as Wingman, Kazz’s Jamaican Kitchen and Wheel Pizza. Wash it down with craft beer, spirits, non-alcoholic drinks and cask-wine cocktails from the pop-up goon bar. There’ll also be games, music, activities and a nugget eating competition. A Pimm’s party
The Globe has launched a Pimm’s Garden Lane pop-up, designed for relaxing picnics, Sunday sessions and summer cocktails. The lane has been transformed into an urban oasis with orange beanbags and umbrellas. The Pimm’s Picnic is available daily at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm and comes with a picnic board and two hours of bottomless Pimm’s for $45. There’s also a monthly Aperivito Sunday Session with canapés, a DJ and free flowing Pimm’s for $59 per person, plus a masterclass for group bookings that’s $65 per person. Shadow Wine Bar’s pastry chef Laura Watson is launching a pop-up market place at the Northbridge bar on Saturday December 4. Watson, who previously worked at Gordon Street Garage and Mary Street Bakery, joined Shadow Wine Bar six years ago and over that time has perfected the customer favourite, pear tarte tatin, which is made with hand-laminated puff pastry and finished over a series of days with aromatic poached pears, caramel and Chicho’s vanilla gelato. Get it and other classic French (and Italian) pastries, plus coffee by Mano a Mano coffee roasters, from 9am.
