Elizabeth Hewson has slowly been building a movement. Right across the country, people have been taking to social media to upload photos of themselves making pasta and adding the SNP hashtag.

It began more than three years ago when the Sydneysider found the usual things she used to help herself cope – such as yoga and exercise – weren’t working. “I poured myself a glass of wine, turned on some Frank Sinatra and started to knead … It felt oddly satisfying to channel the unadulterated anger of another horrible, demoralising week into pasta dough,” she says.

And Saturday Night Pasta was born. A book followed, as did merch, and people began joining the SNP movement.

Today Hewson launches her joyful SNP Self-Care Pack. “Here is to self-care in all its shapes and forms. And this one’s packaged up in pasta, cheese and bread,” she says. (In other words – the good stuff.)

“[The pack includes] beautiful basil-and-spinach tagliolini that you will slowly but surely toss through a melted mound of the greatest cheese in the whole wide world, La Tur,” says Hewson. “For those of you who have yet to meet this wonder, it’s a super creamy, soft Italian cheese made from a mix of cow, sheep and goat’s milk and takes me right back to the streets of Piedmont (thank me later).

“You will shower [it] in Grana Padano from the very same region in Italy. You’ll mop the bowl up with garlic-and-rosemary focaccia and finish off the meal with a sprightly bunch of local rocket, with the option of washing it all down with a bottle of thoughtfully matched nebbiolo (yep from the same region in Italy as the cheese) via Drnks.”

The ingredients come via one of Sydney’s best cheese shops, Penny’s; top bakery Pioik in Pyrmont; artisanal pasta maker Pasta Vera Sydney; online natural-wine store Drnks; and Glebe fruit store Galluzzo.

“And because you’ll no doubt be eating it in your trackpants, the pack also includes a calming eye mask (for what promises to give an ‘instant lifting effect’) and a restoring hair mask (which is meant to fight off split ends and god only knows how many we all have now) – both by French beauty brand La Biosthetique. This is my kinda self-care,” says Hewson.

Packs are $75 for delivery or no-contact pick-up on Saturday July 31. Find more details here. There will be more self-care packs in coming weeks, details will be revealed here.
