In2thewild has made a business out of plonking tiny, off-grid, stylishly appointed houses in beautiful parts of Australia. Its two newest stays, both in prime wine country locations, are no different.

Rosie, the company’s first South Australian outpost, is an hour’s drive from Adelaide on the edge of the Barossa Valley with views of Mount Crawford Forest. With wineries dotted all around, there’s plenty to do – though guests could just as easily just cosy up in the house and enjoy complete seclusion.

Pip, the latest in the group’s steadily growing fleet of Victorian houses, is in the Heathcote wine region, a 90-minute drive north of Melbourne’s CBD. Kangaroos, colourful birds, grazing cattle and horses frequent the surrounding hills, and an easy 15-minute walk rewards guests with panoramic views from an idyllic vantage point.

Both houses can sleep up to four adults, with a queen bed in a windowed nook offering landscape views and a double bed in the loft. And they’re both covered in warm-toned French linens from Sydney label Carlotta & Gee.

There’s also a full bathroom with a toilet, hot shower and basin, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Outside there’s a campfire, barbeque, picnic table and hammock, and guests can lay out a Wandering Folk rug for picnics or stargazing.

Later this month, In2thewild will unveil Madeline: a new house on a 200-acre cattle farm on the Myall River, three hours out of Sydney. It shares the same design as Pip and Rosie, and guests can go for a dip in the private river nearby.

The travel company currently has 27 properties across four states – 16 in NSW, eight in Victoria, two in Queensland and one in SA. Madeline will be its 28th.

In2thewild is offering reduced introductory rates for Pip and Rosie this March. Prices start at $249 per night for both tiny houses.
